Dr. Hast (MD, PhD) is chief physician at Karolinska University Hospital and adjunct professor of hematology at the
Karolinska Institute. Since 1976, he has published over 100 research papers, most within the fi eld of hematology.
He has a special interest in a group of blood diseases called myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), which causes disturbances
in bone marrow stem cells, and in related areas such as acute and chronic leukemia as well as other unusual forms of anemia.
He has been Chairman for both the Swedish and Norwegian hematology associations and he is often consulted for 7
expert advice by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, scientific publications, universities and county councils.
