SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD
With some of the brightest minds in Sweden, our Scientific Advisory Board is a key component in our Venture Management model. It acts in close cooperation with our venture managers and provides a second opinion to the management as well as to the board regarding investment- or process-related decisions.

Areas of expertise include general medicine, internal medicine, immunology, oncology, hematology, clinical pharmacology, and medical technology. Led by Senior Venture Manager Stan Mikulowski, the Scientific Advisory Board meets four times annually and covers a range of medical issues.

Dr. Hansson (MD) is a specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology and has been Director of the medical clinic in Halmstad for 15 years. As Chairman of several national groups focusing on internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Hansson has also helped create the national guidelines for coronary artery disease, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He has been active in the Swedish Physicians Association’s Pharmaceutical Committee for more than 20 years and has lectured internationally on the subject of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.




Dr. Furberg (MD Clinical Physiology) is an expert on clinical trial methodology. Until 1997, he served as Medical Director and member of the Executive Management Team of GlaxoWellcome for 10 years and was a member of the company’s Medical Board and Safety Board, among other assignments. He was Chairman of the Clinical Research Board of the Pharmaceutical Trade Association (1993-1997) and has published several books and scholarly articles on the area of clinical research. Since 1994 he has been a member of the Educational Board for Clinical Trials of the Swedish Academy of Pharmaceutical Science and is an examiner of clinical trial managers and research nurses during diploma courses. He has also been a part of the FASS editorial committee.





Dr. Hast (MD, PhD) is chief physician at Karolinska University Hospital and adjunct professor of hematology at the Karolinska Institute. Since 1976, he has published over 100 research papers, most within the fi eld of hematology. He has a special interest in a group of blood diseases called myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), which causes disturbances in bone marrow stem cells, and in related areas such as acute and chronic leukemia as well as other unusual forms of anemia. He has been Chairman for both the Swedish and Norwegian hematology associations and he is often consulted for 7 expert advice by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, scientific publications, universities and county councils.



Dr. Leppert (MD) is a specialist in general medicine at Uppsala University and Director of the university’s Center for Clinical Research. He has worked as a Director of Research and lecturer at the Uppsala University and has held a considerable number of administrative positions both in general medicine and research within the Västmanland county council. Published in some 50 international medical journals, Dr. Leppert’s diverse research areas include: epidemiology; method and therapeutic studies; the pathophysiology of Reynaud’s phenomenon; clinical cardiology, urology and general medicine.




Olof Lindahl (PhD) is presently Professor of Medical Technology at both Luleå Technical University and Umeå University. He is also Director of the Center of Medical Technology in the North. He is author of more than 80 scientific publications and holder of four patents. He has worked with innovation development at Uminova Innovation for 20 years and has been Chairman of the Swedish Society for Medical Engineering and Medical Physics (MTF), member of the Board of Umeå Institute of Technology and the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering. He founded LinkMed portfolio company BioResonator and is member of the Boards of several companies.
